Selina moved to Cheshunt over 20 years ago, and her children have grown up here. She recently left teaching, after 25 years in secondary schools, where most of her career was spent working in schools in challenging areas. During this time, she has supported a variety of different community groups and charities, mainly focusing on children and young people. Currently, she is also a councillor with Broxbourne Council, representing the ward of Waltham Cross.
This has led to more involvement in the communities across Broxbourne, and she was fortunate enough to be invited to work with Citizens Advice Broxbourne as a trustee. She is passionate about the services that Citizen Advice brings to the borough, and how it supports people.
Selina has always been people-focused, and she sees part of her role as working with the CEO, staff and volunteers so that they have the tools they need to deliver the service. Her particular interests lie in supporting the fundraising so that it increases its financial sustainability, as well as ensuring that the reach into the community continues.
